At Ards Dance Centre we divide our age groups between Pre School, P1-4, P5-7, Yr 8-10 and Yr 11-14. 

Pre-School Dance Classes at Ards Dance Centre

At Ards Dance Centre, we recognize the importance of starting young dancers on the right path.   • Acro and Hip Hop: Our youngest dancers can also enjoy acro and hip hop classes, which enhance flexibility, strength, and rhythm. These classes offer a dynamic way for children to express themselves while developing essential dance skills.

Primary School Classes (P1-4) at Ards Dance Centre

At Ards Dance Centre, our P1-4 classes are designed to build strong foundations for young dancers.   2. P1-4 Acro:

  3. P1-4 Hip Hop:

The competition team competes at both local and national levels, offering valuable experience and the chance to gain recognition in the dance community.

    • Our Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) ballet classes continue to build on the foundational techniques established in earlier levels. In P5-7 classes, students are introduced to more advanced dance elements such as turns, lifts, partner work, and dynamics. At Ards Dance Centre, our Year 8-10 classes are designed to deepen dancers' skills and broaden their exposure to advanced dance concepts. These classes cater to students in the early stages of secondary school, focusing on refining technique and introducing more complex elements. We offer a diverse range of dance styles to suit various interests and help students uncover their passion:

  1. RAD Ballet:

    • Our Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) ballet classes continue to follow the esteemed RAD syllabus, emphasizing precision, grace, and discipline. At this stage, dancers are introduced to RAD vocational exams, where they may be selected to go en pointe, a significant milestone in a ballet dancer's journey. Achieving RAD ballet grades can also accumulate UCAS points, offering academic recognition for their dedication and hard work.

  2. Jazz:

    • Jazz classes for Year 8-10 students focus on energetic routines and dynamic movements. Dancers develop musicality, coordination, and rhythm, while learning advanced techniques such as leaps, turns, and jumps.

  3. Contemporary:

  4. Hip Hop:

These classes cater to students in the later stages of secondary school, focusing on refining technique, exploring complex choreography, and preparing dancers for potential professional careers.

Comprehensive Dance Curriculum

Dancers in Year 11-14 are exposed to a comprehensive curriculum that spans multiple genres, ensuring they receive a well-rounded dance education:

  1. RAD Ballet:

    • Continuing with the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) syllabus, students work towards high-level exams and may further develop their pointe work. These classes emphasize artistry, precision, and the technical rigour necessary for professional ballet.

  2. Jazz:

    • Jazz classes in this advanced level focus on sophisticated routines and intricate choreography. Dancers refine their technique, musicality, and performance quality through challenging leaps, turns, and stylistic expressions.

  3. Contemporary:

    • Contemporary dance encourages students to explore deep emotional expression and innovative movement. Advanced techniques such as floor work, improvisation, and partner work are integrated to develop each dancer's unique voice and artistic interpretation.

  4. Hip Hop:

Year 11-14 Competition Team

Our Year 11-14 competition team represents Ards Dance Centre at local, national, and international competitions. These talented dancers have showcased their skills at prestigious events such as the Dance World Cup, Global Dance Open, the Bedells Bursary, Dancer of the Globe, and UK Young Dancer of the Year. Competing at these high levels requires dedication, discipline, and exceptional talent.

In Year 11-14 classes, dancers focus on refining their technique and performance quality to prepare for future opportunities in dance, whether it be through professional pathways or continued education in dance.
