Safeguarding Policy at Ards Dance Centre

 

Ards Dance Centre is fully committed to safeguarding the welfare of all children and young people up to the age of 18. We recognize our responsibility to take all reasonable steps to promote safe practice and to protect children from harm, abuse, and exploitation.

 

Our safeguarding policy is guided by the Children and Young Persons Act 1963, the Children (Performances and Activities) (England) Regulations 2014, the Children Act 1989, and the Working Together to Safeguard Children 2018.

 

Key Principles

 

Promotion of Safe Practices:

 

We are dedicated to creating a safe environment for all children and young people. This includes implementing measures that prevent harm and ensuring that all activities are carried out safely.

 

Protection from Harm: We take active steps to protect children from all forms of harm, abuse, and exploitation. This includes physical, emotional, and sexual abuse, as well as neglect.

 

Acting on Concerns:

 

We acknowledge our duty to act appropriately to any allegations, reports, or suspicions of abuse. We have procedures in place to ensure that concerns are handled promptly and effectively

 

.Inclusive Ethos: All staff and volunteers work together to encourage the development of an ethos that embraces difference and diversity, respecting the rights of children, young people, and adults.

 

Training and Awareness: We ensure that all staff and volunteers receive regular training on safeguarding issues and are aware of the signs of abuse and the procedures to follow if they have concerns.

 

Application of Policy

 

This policy applies to our paid staff, chaperones, dancers, and anyone working on behalf of Ards Dance Centre. We are committed to ensuring that everyone involved with the Centre is aware of their responsibilities in safeguarding children and young people.

 

Reporting and Response

 

Reporting Concerns:

 

Any concerns about the welfare of a child or young person should be reported immediately to the designated safeguarding officer at Ards Dance Centre.

 

Response to Allegations: We have clear procedures for responding to allegations of abuse, ensuring that all actions are taken in the best interests of the child or young person involved.
